no it's not bill kaulitz (another mix tape)

I'm kind of ashamed to say this, but Andrej Pejic completely reminds me of Bill Kaulitz. And not just because they're both unbelievably androgynous. They share mannerisms in the way they speak and act in interviews (not that I spend my life on youtube thanks vair much).

I wish I could sit down and have a conversation with Andrej. Maybe at a bookstore or Starbucks or some other innocuous place. He is just a fascinating creature. So in light of my recent discovery of androgyny-themed songs by Garbage, I made this mix tape:

Please go on over here and listen to Cherry Lips. If you pay attention to the lyrics, it's as if it was written specially for Andrej.
And look how awesome and artsy I am! I drew the cover based off this Andrej editorial in Oyster Magazine!

I cut out the roses (from this photo of Andrej) and pasted them onto my drawing. And in case you're wondering, the bottom corner reads "boys' room."

And on a separate but still model-related note:

???
That's what came up when I was searching for Ethan's Ey! Magateen interview (which I still haven't found by the way). So if anyone owns a readable copy of the interview, do send it over.

Teen Dreams/Fluorescent Adolescent

As promised, I got around to making the cover collage for a playlist I compiled about a month ago.

And here are the songs:

I was thinking about FMH's Andrej Pejic ranking (they finally issued an apology), which got me into an Andrej mode, so I spent like half an hour of my life watching his interviews on Youtube. And THEN I found his Twitter. It's actually  one of the most entertaining things I've had the pleasure of reading:

what a social butterfly

the baby or whatever that's hanging on your wall is pretty.
I am so glad Andrej exists.

Mix Tapes and Granny Shoes for Spring 2011

I made a playlist of 42 songs and burned in onto a CD. Then I decorated the jewel case with collage pieces cut out from old issues of Harper's Bazaar. I might give the mixtape away as a gift, but I quite like the collage covers I made so I'm hesitant to part with it.

In case you are wondering what the mixtape consists of, here are the songs:

I was on SSENSE earlier today (always a good way to pass the time) to look at shoes for Spring 2011 and I think I want some nice frumpy kicks.

Marc by Marc Jacobs "Wertmuller" wedge
These are great because from the front, they look like quasi-orthopedic sneaker-type shoes. But once you see the wedge, they look nice. Real nice.

Surface to Air "Blade" slippers
I imagine a grandpa wearing these with a velvet robe, smoking a cigarette and shuffling around his yellowing shag rug.

Diane Von Furstenberg "Faye" clogs
This print look likes something you would find on the carpet of a hospital, or maybe a sad nursing home or cheap hotel. Plus they're clogs so y'know.
Rag & Bone "Wakerfield" boots
Jil Sander mesh oxfords
The mesh gives these otherwise vintage-looking oxfords an update.
Alexander Wang "Saskia" gladiator
Oh man. These look like Tevas, the ultimate ugly tourist shoe.
