Hubby on Pilar Pilapil’s condition: She's OK

Until awarded actress Pilar Pilapil is released from a hospital, the most patient one to take care of her is husband Pastor Bernie Peñas.

That is aside from Pilapil’s immediate family like only daughter Pia Pilapil, her blind better half Gerry Gonzalo and their 4 children.

Brother Bernie does not only attend to his wife’s needs but also talk to Pilar’s fellow actors and friends from the press.

According to Peñas, he and Pilar have agreed that it is not yet time to give media interview to avoid pressure and tension that could add up to the actress’ traumatic experience.

There are a number of movie journalists who want to have an audience with Pilapil, said Bernie.

“In due time, she might tell her story,” said Peñas.

Pilapil has been attacked by suspected carjackers and kidnappers more than a week ago.

“But she’s already okay. Thank God for His amazing grace,” said Peñas in his text message.

PIlar Pilapil Stabbed by Carjackers

Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil was rushed to the hospital Thursday night after she was stabbed by suspected car thieves in Marikina City, police said.

A spot report sent by the Antipolo Police Station to GMA News Online indicated that 60-year-old Pilapil was with a female companion named Rossel Rossalem when two armed men forcibly boarded their gold Kia car at the Marikina Riverbanks area at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The report said Pilapil bore multiple stab wounds and was left behind by the carjackers in a grassy portion of Piedra Blanca Homes in Brgy. San Luis, Antipolo City.

Pilapil's companion, Rossalem, was taken by the suspects in the carjacked vehicle, according to the police, who are still looking for her.

In an interview over GMA News TV's Balitanghali, PO3 Rodel Druha of the Antipolo Police said Pilapil, despite being injured, still managed to ask for assistance from the residents, who rushed her to the Antipolo District Hospital.

She has now been transferred to a hospital in Metro Manila. For security reasons, GMA News Online is not disclosing the location of the hospital where Pilapil is being treated.

"Sa ngayon po siguro okay na siya (She is probably in a better condition by now)," said Druha.

Druha said the case has been turned over to the Marikina City Police Station and that they have already issued an advisory about the carjacked vehicle.

Hours before the incident, PEP.ph said Pilapil was at the press conference of her stage play "The Vagina Monologues" at the Cercio restaurant in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

The report said that one of the topics in the press conference was battered women.

Pilapil has been an actress for the past 30 years and has won two best actress awards.

She was also crowned as the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe in 1967.
