Melissa Ricks, Phil Absent in 'In the Name of Love' Premiere

Are celebrity couple Melissa Ricks and Jake Cuenca not in good terms?

During the premiere night of Star Cinema’s 18th anniversary offering “In The Name of Love” on Tuesday, it was noticeable that Ricks was nowhere to be found to support Cuenca, who is among the movie’s lead stars along with Angel Locsin and Aga Muhlach.

This led to speculations that the 2 are not okay since the young actress has recently been posting in her official Twitter account angry rants about someone whom she refuses to name.

Ricks was also constantly tweeting about her eagerness to watch the Justin Bieber concert, which was held on the same day.

In an interview with Push.com.ph, Cuenca clarified that he does not feel bad that his girlfriend did not make it in the premiere night of his movie.

“Busy siya today eh. Of course I invited her. No, [hindi ako nagtampo]. Alam ko naman na yung suporta na binibigay sa akin ni Mel higit pa sa pagpunta dito. Kumbaga naitawid ko din yung isang taon at kalahating yun dahil sa suporta ni Melissa,” he said.

“So I think that would be a lot more than just watching the premiere night. And she can watch naman tomorrow in the screenings. That would mean something kasi gagastos pa siya,” he added.

Many people also noticed Phil Younghusband’s absence during the red carpet premiere.

Like Ricks, Younghusband was also in the Justin Beiber concert.

“Good night sa inyong lahat. Nag enjoy ako ng justin bieber concert kanina :) Mag ingat kayo lagi,” the football player tweeted.

Younghusband, however, posted a congratulatory message to all the people behind the Star Cinema movie. He has also called on the public to watch the film.

“Congrats to everyone involved in the movie "In The Name Of Love" especially to Angel, Aga and Jake. Go watch it now if you havnt seen it,” he said.

Younghusband is courting Locsin. In a recent interview, he revealed that he and Locsin are already exclusively dating.

Jake Cueca, Melissa Ricks not on good terms?

Young stars Melissa Ricks and Jake Cuenca’s relationship seems to be going through rough times.

In his interview on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cuenca admitted that he and Ricks, whom he has been dating for more than a year now, “have some things to fix,” but he declined to elaborate.

“Sa isang relationship, there’s always bad times and good times as well. In every relationship, meron tayong kanya kanyang problema. We’re fixing things. It’s been busy,” he said.

What’s definite though is that their friendship “will always be there,” and that they will always support each other.

“No matter what happens, ang suporta ko kay Mel ay laging nandoon. Walang taong sumuporta sa akin katulad ni Mel. Sobra talaga ang suporta niya sa akin,” he added.

In fact, Ricks was his inspiration while filming the box-office hit “In The Name of Love.”

Cuenca, who starred alongside Aga Muhlach and Angel Locsin, has been praised for his acting in the drama movie.

Last week, rumors of their separation began to spread. Ricks’ controversial tweets also added fuel to the fire.

Some of her much talked about controversial tweets were:

“May last statement... sana lang wag na echusero at showbiz. :) please lng, sana lng masaya ka.:)”

Initially, many speculated that Ricks was referring to Kim Chiu and their reported misunderstanding. But Chiu was quick to make a denial. “Wala talagang away. Bakit naman kami magkakasamaan ng loob?”

Some also suspected that her tweets were for Cuenca, who declined to issue a statement when sought for reaction.

Ricks has refused interview requests by the entertainment press.

Is Melissa Ricks Jealous Of Alessandra de Rossi?

Drama actress Alessandra de Rossi has shrugged off rumors that there is a building tension between her and actress Melissa Ricks.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Wednesday, De Rossi denied that her intimate scenes with actor Jake Cuenca in the primetime series “Green Rose” triggered Ricks's reported jealous sparks.

“Kaibigan ko rin si Melissa. Silang dalawa para ko na silang [anak]. Sabi ko nga kay Jake, 'Kulang na lang sa akin ka manggaling.' Ganoon. Kasi bata pa lang talaga, kaibigan ko na siya,” said de Rossi.

De Rossi also assured Ricks that she can trust her. “Mabait si Melissa sakin kasi alam naman niya puwede niya ako takbuhan anytime. Ganoon din si Jake,” she said.

It was in December 2010 when Cuenca admitted that he and Ricks have been dating for more than a year. Cuenca has said Ricks is his inspiration.

Cuenca was romantically linked to Melissa after they worked together in ABS-CBN's television program "Pedro Penduko," which actor Matt Evans topbilled.
