Their appearance in the third hit High School Musical film was nearly three years ago now.

But stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens are clearly still close friends, despite their careers going off in different directions.

Hudgens, 22, and Tisdale, 25,showed off their svelte bikini figures earlier today as they holidayed together in Mexico.

The pair certainly seemed to be having an indulgent time, both lying back on sun loungers and sipping what looked like champagne.

At one point Hudgens painted her toenails while Tisdale soaked up the central American sun on a sun lounger.

Wearing a bright blue patterned bikini, Hudgens wore her long dark hair loose, teamed with oversized sunglasses.

Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans in the three High School Musical films wore a strapless patterned bikini, with her hair tied into a top knot.

She was taking a well-earned break after last week promoting her new DVD movie, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure, a spinoff from the High School musical franchise, where she reprises her role of popular mean girl Sharpay Evans.

Tisdale and Hudgens have remained firm friends since starring together in High School Musical, and spend a lot of their free time together.

And it seems Tisdale was thoroughly enjoying her time away with Hudgens, tweeting earlier this week: ’Life is good..... Beach, sun, and my best girlfriends!!!!’

Hudgens, meanwhile, has just starred in action movie Sucker Punch as Blondie, and alongside Alex Pettyfer in dramatic movie Beastly.
