| VIDEO: 2 new documentaries detail why Starcraft is beloved & says goodbye to the arcade Posted: 16 May 2011 03:36 PM PDT Games, and specifically those who obsess over them, make for fun viewing material and are clearly all the rage. I’ve already mentioned one about falling blocks, so how about a pair dealing with the Zerg and M. Bison? I’ve also touched upon Starcraft before, and even highlighted a portion of another documentary. Well, the latest to tackle the game that has taken Korean kids by storm is called Star Dreams, and it’s a short little thing, which you can watch in its entirety…

| VIDEO: Ox in a clothing store is the new “bull in a china shop” Posted: 16 May 2011 01:34 PM PDT The old idiom about someone reckless being like a “bull in a china shop” has always seemed silly to me; when would a bull be in a china shop and why do we assume they wouldn’t just kick back with some tea? Well, now we know how an ox would react in a clothing store. Spoiler alert: He stands around before ultimately smashing through a glass door like the Kool-Aid Man. I feel pretty bad for the ox. Dude was just sitting there confused looking out the window until everyone had to make this into a big deal. Then he did the perfectly ox-logical thing of smashing through the door to escape (Oxen are not good at strategic escapes. Or fjording a river). I mean I guess you can’t have an ox running through a Latin American town, but I feel like those guys were so enthusiastic about the opportunity to lasso an ox in public to save humanity like they were being casted for a reboot of “Jumanji”. You have my emotional support, Mr. Ox. I’ll be sure to make a big huff and growl, then shove a guy on a low-powered motorcycle to the ground when he’s not expecting it in your honor. | Nina Agdal bikini pics will brighten your day Posted: 16 May 2011 01:00 PM PDT Blue is a very good color for Nina, don't you think? I don’t know much about this Danish peach named Nina Agdal other than she works for Calzedonia posing in bikinis on the beach and that she is very good at her job. I just love that hardly a day goes by in which I don’t run across a bikini model or a lingerie model posing in a photo shoot for some company I’ve never heard of. It’s like there’s an unlimited number of these women and these companies in the world. Why is that do you suppose? Then again, maybe it’s not our job as men to question such things, but to just enjoy them and like life not ever fully understand the purpose of these things. Or something. |
| VIDEO: The PlayStation Network is finally back up (somewhat, and not for everyone) [UPDATED] Posted: 16 May 2011 12:55 PM PDT For those who missed the big news from this past weekend, the nightmare that has plagued Sony and it’s loyal PS3 users is finally coming to a close. Albeit in baby steps First a word from our president… I find it kind of funny how Sony, who was in a total state of denial during the early phases of PSNgate, and now they won’t shut up with the apologies. Good I say. Anyhow, here are the hit points… - First you have to download the latest firmware. I know. But doing so will allow one to get to the next, valuable step: the ability to sign in and change your damn password! - Though the rollout is happening region by region, not all at once. Imagine my vitriol this past Saturday night when I installed the new update, yet was not able to log in. But by now, all of the Americas has been covered for, along with most of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. - Remember: you MUST do so from the system that you signed up with. But if you’re on your 2nd system, or if it was purchased used at a GameStop, are you screwed? Not really; the process will have to be done via email, though reports are floating around that it’s taking forever. - But even if you’re in a region that has the green light, and are still on your first system, there still might be hiccups. At one point, Sony had to pull the plug due to so many requests jamming up the system. Which coincidentally I came across, again on Saturday night, which led to me assuming that hackers had gotten the best of Sony yet again. - Things are not 100%, but you can play online, watch your Netflix, interact with your buddies online, and even log into PlayStation Home. Thank God, right? - Unfortunately, the one thing that everyone wants (more than just players but game producers) is the Store, and that’s still down. But it’s still on pace according to Sony, and via a FAQ from the official blog, expected numerous updates in a row to make up for lost time. - [UPDATE] Sony’s “Welcome Back” incentives have finally been revealed. PS3 owners can chose two from the following: Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, Super Stardust HD, and Wipeout HD + Fury. And PSP owners can chose two from the following: LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, and Killzone Liberation. Certainly not bad, though I own most of those games already, so for it me it’s a bit “meh.” … Oddly enough the one region everyone expected to be the first to be up and running, even more so than the United States was Japan. And it’s still not up. Well, we just found out why: the Japanese government is saying no go till Sony can demonstrate that user info is indeed in safer hands, along with detailed info as to how they’ll handle another attack if another happens. A reasonable demand to be sure. Japan Restart of Sony Online Games Services Not Yet Approved [Fox Business] |
