Posted: 03 May 2011 03:05 PM PDT Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been officially announced as NBA MVP. At 22 years old, Rose is the youngest recipient of the award edging out Wes Unseld who won it in 1969 at 23. The voting wasn’t as close as many had expected with Rose getting 113 out of a possible 121 first place votes. Dwight Howard, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant rounded out the top 4. His teammates and coaches offered their praise for the young guard. Luol Deng:

Unfortunately for Rose, the Bulls surprisingly lost last night at home to the Hawks. He’s had some stellar performances in these playoffs thus far and he may have to turn it on again if the Bulls are to succeed. But another turned ankle yesterday may slow him down for Game 2. Although x-rays were negative, he’s listed as day-to-day. Then again, aren’t we all. Bulls teammates happy for ‘great kid’: MVP Rose [Chicago Tribune] |
VIDEO: How Call of the Dead gets the all-star, zombie kill-a-thon started Posted: 03 May 2011 02:24 PM PDT Escalation, the second Call of Duty: Black Ops Map Pack just came out, and for those without the luxury of working from home (or better yet, being jobless), here’s the opening intro for Call of the Dead that’s waiting for you. Before some guy talking on cell phone took you out of the moment while watching a movie. Now it’s your pal that just logged into Xbox Live. But anyway, at least now we know why George Romero is part of the game. Also, the clip kinda makes zero sense if one really thinks about it, but hey, it’s a video game right? Though I am a bit disconcerted by how has a friggin’ pitchfork. Either lamest way to connect with his trademark (and copy-written) weapon, or they simply ran out of ideas (though more like how it fits with him being comedic relief, as someone hinted towards in the clip). Hopefully there’s a glove-type weapon that has sharp things on the end, with maybe an accompanying red and green striped sweater plus fedora. |

Study: Fatties less sexually satisfied, cheeseburgers presumably suffer as result Posted: 03 May 2011 02:00 PM PDT A new study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy says that overweight people, specifically the obese, are less likely to find themselves sexually satisfied. Study author Truls Ostbye of Duke University said in the report, “Our findings contribute to a growing body [ED. NOTE: Lulz] of research that indicates obesity is associated with reduced sexual functioning and sexual quality of life,” The study speculates that the reasons for the failings in sexual satisfaction have to do with both actual physical dysfunction and emotional problems stemming from obesity. David Sarwer, director of clinical services at the Center for Weight and Eating Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine told USA Today, “People should realize sexuality is more than just intercourse. There’s a tremendous amount of emotional value and benefit that can still come from holding hands, kissing, hugging — romance.” It’s certainly sad that people are suffering due to their physical problems. At the same time though, if you’re not even attempting to do anything about it, I don’t necessarily have as much sympathy. Though my thoughts may be heavily weighted (lol) by the fact that I just Googled terms related to obesity and sex to find an image for this post and, even with SafeSearch one, was bombarded by several horrific things that would better be saved for a terrorist training video or a Broadway play version of “Food, Inc.” Obese people less sexually satisfied [USA Today] |
