Charlize Theron switches allegiance as she cheers on Arsenal

At a charity football two years ago, Charlize Theron delighted Chelsea fans when she declared herself to be a supporter of ’the Blues’.

But it appears her interest in the West London club may have waned after the Oscar winner was spotted cheering on Arsenal FC earlier today.

Sitting in the VIP area at the Emirates stadium, the South African actress looked like an excited Gooner as she watched the North London club beat Manchester United 1-0.

Looking casual in a grey T-shirt and sunglasses, the 35-year-old cheered and whooped appreciatively as the team finally turned things around for the Gunners after a difficult season so far.

Her support of Arsenal may come as a surprise to Chelsea fans, who were no doubt looking forward to seeing the A-lister in their midst at Stamford Bridge one day.

Theron ’outed’ herself as a Chelsea fan when she supported them for a charity friendly against Inter Milan in Los Angeles two years ago.

Having grown up in football-mad South Africa, she is a keen follower of the sport and has focused a lot of her charity work on the game.

Two years ago, Her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project teamed up with the LAFC Chelsea (a youth football training programme) to set up community football programs for underprivileged children in her native South Africa.

She also took part in the draw to find out which teams would be playing each other at the 2010 World Cup.

But, whichever team she supports, Theron appears to be a lucky charm anyway.

When she supported the Blues at their game against Inter Milan, they ended up winning 2-0.

Until today, Theron has been keeping a low-profile since arriving in England last Wednesday.

The actress is soon set to play the Evil Queen in the upcoming live action film adaptation of Snow White And The Huntsman.

She will star alongside Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, who will play the young heroine.
