| VIDEO: Once the coolest Transformer is officially no more Posted: 04 Apr 2011 09:55 PM PDT I know times are tough, but Jesus Christ man… What you’ve just witnessed/are currently watching/are wishing you had never seen is something that’s pretty popular in Japan right now, which are “games” that allow you to gawk at polygonal chicks that J-pop and look all super kawaii (that’s Japanese for cute, for those who aren’t multiculturally enlightened). The game part is how you get to play the part of manager, which mostly includes making sure their outfits are just right. Certain iterations allow one to tinker with the virtual actresses, with what you see above being just one example. Something related, and quite red hot popular in Japan to be precise, are Vocaloids. Imagine auto-tune software, but with a lovable anime chick part of the package (of course). Anyhow, best random YouTube comment? “First, I found the video on anotherÿ site, an asian girl made it. Second I like Vocaloid. And third, Since Soundwave is a mechanoid, I really doubt he (or any other Transformer) has a real gender at all. My car or computer doesn’t, why should they? (And no matterÿ what Hasbro says, a machine is a machine.) Besides, what if he can modulate his voice to sound like a woman? | UConn wins National Championship Posted: 04 Apr 2011 08:40 PM PDT UConn has won the 2011 NCAA National Championship despite the lowest scoring first half in a title game since 1946. The game seemed to have no flow with both teams going ice cold for long stretches of time. But Connecticut imposed their will in the second half, constantly beating Butler to loose balls and offensive rebounds en route to a 53-41 win. To give you an idea of Butler’s offensive struggles, their first made shot inside the paint came with 6:10 left in the game. Yes, you read that right. For the game, Butler only made three field goals inside the arc and shot an abysmal 18.8% overall. If not for their nine three-point makes, who knows how lopsided this game could have been. For the Huskies, it is the third title in school history, all under head coach Jim Calhoun. There will now be serious speculation as to whether he stays because of his age and numerous rumors about NCAA violations. At some point next year, he’ll have to sit a few games for a suspension. That is, if he comes back at all. |

Via emulators running the games separately, yet all have the same controller input. Okay, that somewhat makes sense, but if one button press does the same thing in all games, then why aren’t all the action identical across the board? That’s what I was wondering, and funny enough, the best answer can be found via the comments section in this Kotaku post… “The run was accomplished by running four emulators at once, with all of them recording an input movie (which essentially a hex file containing data on what the input is of each frame). He then used a macro to have all four emulators accept the same input at the same time. In terms of normal TAS tools, he used frame advance (essentially assigning a hotkey to inch the game forward one frame at a time) and savestates.” BTW, for what TAS means… “TAS, means tool assissted. Basically that gives him the ability to save and restore, and a restore also brings the video back as well. Making the playback look like a single play-through. One of the original records for Mario 3 had something like 10,000 restore’s. This video only differs in that he is controlling 4 games with one controller (or keyboard, or whatever).” That makes TOTAL sense, right? Right? BTW, for whatever reason, the clip above reminds me of my favored hacked version of Super Mario Bros 3, simply titled Super Mario Bros X… |
