REVIEW: Modern Tailor Custom Shirting Posted: 17 Apr 2011 11:45 PM PDT Being an in between size makes clothing the upper half of my body annoying. I’ve turned to custom shirting as an alternative. Over the next week or so, I’ll showcase a few companies that I tried out in order to find what the best affordable option is for custom shirting. If you’re going to try out any custom shirting site first, try Modern Tailor. Why? They are offering a $19.95 special for those who may feel a bit hesitant to get a custom shirt (ie brand new customers). They offer it in black and oxford blue. I’m just going to say it – unless you’re a waiter, you really don’t need a black dress shirt. Go with the blue, it’s far more versatile and you’ll get a ton of mileage out of it. Both are single-ply, 70s-80s fabrics. Meaning, they aren’t thick by any means which make for a great lightweight shirt you can wear year-round without worry. Although the shirts start off at $19.95, you have additional options that can add a few bucks here and there to final price. I decided to add a contrast collar and mother of pearl buttons for an extra $7, I believe. So, at the end of the day I got a brand new shirt for under $30 that fit me pretty damn near perfect. The process was simple. They ask you to measure a shirt that already fits you well, so you don’t have to worry about measuring yourself. Measuring a shirt you already own makes perfect sense. You know you like the fit already and there’s far less ways to screw up the measurement process. Just make sure you double/triple check everything. I messed up my neck measurement and now I have a shirt that fits me well, but the collar is about 1.5 sizes too big. Not a huge deal when you put on a tie, but it’s still annoying. The quality of the shirt itself was better than I could have imagined. I figured for 20 bucks the cloth would have been thin and wimpy, certainly not of the best quality. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. The fabric has a nice heft to it. It’s not paper-thin and there isn’t any sort of sheen to the shirt. It’s a nicely understated fabric, that with the contrast collar transforms the shirt into a perfectly transitional casual-to-dress button up. The actual ordering process is intuitive and not hard to follow. There are plenty of options for the collar, cuff, monograms, etc. to really put your personal touch on the shirt. I’m really happy with it and already got some compliments when I wore it the other day. Still need more convincing? If you like their Facebook page, they’ll send you an e-mail with a voucher code for an extra 20% off you next purchase. I’ve already put in my next order for a shirt. Why not right? Shirt details:

10 of the hottest MILFs in sitcom history Posted: 17 Apr 2011 05:00 AM PDT Since we crank out so many stories each week some really good ones get lost in the cracks. And since so many new people visit Guyism every day (thank you), we thought we’d start taking some time on the weekends to share some classics that many of our newer readers may have missed. Not a lot of explanation needed here. These ten TV moms make tuning into the boob tube just that much more enjoyable. Most of us weren't fortunate enough to have friend's growing up with moms that could have posed for Maxim magazine in between tee-ball games and Cub Scout trips. In a perfect world, every guy would have a friend with a "MILF" as sexy as these women of the small screen. 10 Peg Bundy – Married with Children 9 Angie Lopez – George Lopez 8 Marge Simpson – The Simpsons 7 Nancy Botwin – Weeds 6/5 Gloria Delgado and Claire Dunphy – Modern Family 4 Samantha Stephens – Bewitched 3/2 Sheila Keefe and Janet Gavin – Rescue Me 1 Becky Katsopolis – Full House |
VIDEO: Everything else Capcom has in store for 2011 Posted: 17 Apr 2011 04:00 AM PDT We already know about more Street Fighter 4 and Dead Rising 2 coming down the pipeline, but those aren’t the only things the house that Mega Man built has in store for the rest of the year. First off, they’ve got yet another fighting game mash-up happening, this time mixing Ken & Ryu with Kazuya & Nina… Looks intriguing to say the least. I do love how Street Fighter 4 had this “painterly” quality to the action, and this time we’re getting splashes of water instead of brushstrokes. The one thing everyone wants to know about is how it’ll control, given how both are radically differently in that department. As you might recall, buttons in Tekken are tied to individual limbs and that’s it, whereas in Street Fighter they both determine what kind of strike plus its power. Apparently for Namco’s boys and girls, while the game will adopt Capcom’s traditional 6 button structure, the same “dial a combos” that is usually found in past Tekken titles will still be present. Basically, pretend the weak and medium punch and kick inputs will emulate the usual control scheme. Why Capcom simply didn’t go for four buttons themselves like in most of their other Vs efforts are beyond me. Granted, I might have my facts totally wrong, I’m only going by reports online… needless to say, first chance I get my hands on the game, I will pass along clarification! Next up is Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D… It goes without saying that those who rushed out to get their 3DSs on day one have probably not touched the thing in recent days. Of the games everyone is patiently waiting for, this one is easily up there with the Ocarina of Time redux, though Mercenaries 3D looks even better if that can be believed. I have a strong feeling that this might be the next big thing for the platform, especially in Japan, where they absolutely love co-op play via handhelds, as evidenced by the huge success of Monster Hunter on the PSP on those shores (which is basically the only reason why that platform is afloat over there). Speaking of which… Here’s something different new, so swears Capcom, called Dragon’s Dogma… After after striking zombie gold with Resident Evil, Capcom figured it might be worth doing something a little different with the undead, and thus Dead Rising was born. So consider Dragon’s Dogma a slightly tweaked version of Monster Hunter. On the surface it appears to be identical; you and a bunch of online buddies get together to tackle large monstrosities (though they’re less dinosaurs-like beings and more dragon-type beings). But this time there’s more of an emphasis on sword and sorcery, as well as story. And here’s the other new kid in class, aka Asura’s Wraith… Not much is known about this game, other what the trailer shows, which is some bad-ass (some former god apparently) facing off against one of his presumably former brethren’s finger. Albeit a very large one. I personally am getting a strong vibes that indicate a mix between God of War and God Hand (for the six folks out there that actually played that one). It’s also a collaboration between Capcom and CyberConnect2, which has helmed some pretty phenomenal Naurto fighting titles in the past. Even though I’m not a fan of the anime, even I can’t deny the game has had some truly amazing, fast & furious action. So I’m just glad for the chance to enjoy such action and my character not be some annoying animu dork with spiky yellow hair. Finally, back to Resident Evil… Okay, so Operation Raccoon City doesn’t look all that bad, as somewhat initially feared. Turns out, it’s going to a third person team-based shooter and not a first person affair, thank goodness (I’m not opposed to the idea of a RE FPS, but given how touchy the subject matter could potentially be, it’s perhaps best saved for something else). And it seems that you’ll be mowing down zombies as well, along with the law, and as noted, famous faces. I really hope they take the “what if”/fan-fiction route to it’s limit. Meaning, a mini dating sim in which you get to go out with Claire Redfield. Though what I’m most concerned about is how the cast will turn out. Sorry, but the name “Bertha” hardly makes one quakes in their boots. |
