| Auburn defeats Oregon for National Championship Posted: 10 Jan 2011 10:59 PM PST The University of Auburn kicked a field goal as time expired to defeat Oregon in the BCS National Championship game. Leading 19-11 for much of the game, Oregon finally broke through the Auburn defense with just under 3 minutes remaining on a LaMichael James touchdown. The Ducks quickly followed that up with a 2-point conversion to tie the game. But Auburn, which had one of the nation’s most prolific offenses during the season simply had too much time to work with. Cam Newton and company drove down the field and capped off with a very strange Michael Dyer 37-yard run that appeared to be dead. Watch for yourself: That propelled them into field goal range and after running the clock down to 3 seconds remaining, field goal kicker Wes Byrum came in and sealed the deal from 19-yards. But OKCupid says not so fast. As part of their ongoing studies, they’ve found being slightly less attractive may lead to increased attention from fellows when dating online. But where things get confusing is, according to OK Cupid, when everyone finds a woman at least somewhat attractive. There’s a whole lot of intricate data analysis on the OK Trends blog, but it distills down to this principle: The more uniformly rated a woman is, the less messages she gets. So if five guys think a girl is a “7″ while five think she’s a “6″, odds are she’ll do worse in terms of messages received than a girl with ratings all over the map. OKCupid also speculates that part of the reason the mediocre/less attractive girls get the attention is that the fact that less people are likely to want them means that more men want them with the theory being that there will then be less competition for the not-so-fair damsel’s hand. Mallika’s film is courting spotlight for another reason too. Much has been written about Kangna and Mallika’s on-set chemistry. But, according to eye witnesses, the things between the two are not as bad as often reported. For the moment Hollywood seems to have taken a back seat in Mallika’s career. After finishing with DHAMAAL 2 shoot, there are reports that the actress will sign some more Hindi films before giving Hollywood some more attention. For the moment east seems to hold a lot of promise for Mallika and her film career.
